Chobe is renowned for large herbivores – like buffalo and elephant – wading in the water and having a drink. Puku and lechwe are often seen on the island and kudu, impala and waterbuck are common on the banks of the river. Guests do a boat cruise and Game drive in specially adapted open vehicles. This is a unique opportunity for quests of the Chobe National Park to experience some of the best game viewing in Africa close up.
The Chobe Day Trip typically starts with a Chobe River cruise into the park, with an opportunity to see a host of waders and water birds. You can also expect the ever-present crocodiles and lurking hippos. A boat cruise is the ideal opportunity to relax, sit back and see the animals come to you. They are less disturbed by the sound of a boat and more relaxed, as the water is the one place where all the species need to go.
Sometimes you can see many species of predators and herbivores at the river together! Guests will then enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before setting off on a game drive in the afternoon. This gives guests the opportunity to learn more about the bush and the wildlife that roam here. A special treat is the frequent lion sightings in Chobe. At certain times of year you can easily spot eland, sable and roan antelope. Leopards are elusive but common in the area — so you may be lucky! This is the experience of a lifetime.
Likewise, international guests from outside Botswana, visiting Kasane can have an option of doing the game drive before the afternoon cruise. The activity starts by pick-up (from 07:00hrs) and drop off (before 17:30hrs) clients at border. Guests will head straight to the Chobe National Park for a 3 hour guided Morning Game Drive activity in the Chobe National Park on an open view safari vehicle with tea/coffee basket and soft drinks/bottled water.
On the game drives, guests can experience sightings of lions and, if you are lucky, leopards. Elephants are often seen in large herds along the Chobe River. Guests can also be surprised with rare sightings of sable antelope and the African painted dog (wild dog). LUNCH (either buffet or ala carte) at a local restaurant. Guests will go on a 3hrs afternoon guided Boat Safari in the Chobe river, enjoying the Chobe-Zambezi breeze, aquatic and birdlife. Guests to arrange for own beverages (wine, whiskey etc)
